Accent Modification
Accent modification, or accent reduction, is a personalized way to sharpen your English pronunciation by adjusting your clarity, rhythm, and sound patterns.
North American English
An accent is a meaningful reminder that you speak more than one language. Still, when sound patterns of different languages influence your English pronunciation, it can lead to misunderstandings. Learning the sounds and rhythm of North American English can boost clarity, confidence, and connection.
Accent Training Process
We’ll begin with a detailed speech assessment to identify the sounds, patterns, and rhythm features most affecting your intelligibility. The training plan will include guided pronunciation practice with feedback, audio recording for self-monitoring, real-world speaking tasks like meetings & interviews, and home exercises for ongoing improvement. Progress is tracked regularly, and sessions are tailored to your goals, pace, and communication needs.
Accent Modification Goals
Refine English Vowels
Produce vowels accurately and consistently (i.e. team/Tim, look/Luke)
Improve Word Stress
Use appropriate syllable stress (i.e. OBject, obJECT)
Master Consonant Sounds
Correctly articulate challenging sounds like th, r, l, and ch
Practice Intonation Patterns
Use rising and falling pitch appropriately in questions, statements, and emphasis
